From the supplier: A study which aimed to describe an effective methodology for assessing exercise intensity and energy expenditure in physical education classes is presented. Participants consisted of nine female high school students between ages 14 to 16 who underwent laboratory and field testing to determine their caloric expenditure during physical education classes. Results show that the exercise intensity over the period of activity is generally inadequate to produce aerobic benefits and that heart rate monitors are effective objective measures of exercise intensity in physical education.
